The Earthquake Relief Effort (Archive)

The Inspiration:

Since February's earthquake in Christchurch the team at She Chocolat have been lifting spirits in the city with hot chocolate, chocolates, lots of hugs, shoulder massage, The Form - Reality Practice™ and of course, She’s Chocolate Bus - watch the Bus in action below...

Just the sight of the bus is bringing many smiles, for those in the city are beginning to know She’s Chocolate Bus means big-hearted chocolate is on its way!  The Bus is visiting the rescue teams and relief centres which accommodate people made homeless by the quake - plus teams of Red Cross, St Johns, police, army and the fire services around the city who are giving so much to the rescue & recovery, and the provision of water, porta-loos and other necessities in Christchurch.

You can help us financially by donating to the 'She Chocolat Relief Fund'; we'd love to be taking in MUCH MORE Chocolate and lifting the hearts and spirits of the people most affected... We're coordinating our efforts with the help of the Red Cross and the Clown Doctors...

Donations are coming in from She Chocolat customers and from around the globe through supporters of the Bernie Prior Foundation, the human potential teaching behind ‘She’. Thank you everyone who is supporting this awesome project.

Latest Developments:

Tues 1st Mar:
Total donations now standing at $3675! Many thanks to everyone who is supporting the chocolate relief initiative.... Hot Chocolate is flowing out to the guys on the blockades and to the Marae at Springfield Rd tonight; a trip into Latimer square recovery teams today . Lyttelton Firemen's dinners continue daily. Our heartfelt thanks to all these amazing people!

Mon 28th Feb:
Total donations received $3245!  thank you everyone for your support.
Today the 'chocolate relief team' visited the support & accommodation centre at Pioneer Leisure with hot chocolate, chocolate brownies and hugs. Then, with 4WD escort into Latimer Square where the recovery teams are based. The guys here are on 12 hour shifts so the sight of steaming hot chocolate is always welcome. Video screens and equipment will be on their way to relief centres in the next few days. We are just awaiting their arrival in Christchurch.

Sun Feb 27th:
Thanks to Dave of Canterbury Packaging for the thousands of paper cups he's donated for our 'hot chocolate relief'

Donations received from around the globe to ‘She Chocolat Relief Fund’ $2967 to date. This money is helping us to continue providing much needed ‘chocolate relief’ to the recovery teams, relief centres and people of Christchurch.

Sat Feb 26th:
Thanks so much to those who offered DVD players for our "Movies in the Relief Centres" inspiration... DTR has agreed to supply five screens and equipment for us to make this a reality!

The Chocolate Bus visited the "Pioneer Leisure Centre" in Spreydon in the morning and the Relief Centre at Burnside High this afternoon, accompanied by the Clown Doctors.

Fri Feb 25th:
APS Chemicals - our wonderful chocolate importers - have just donated 250kg of premium chocolate for our Hot Chocolate... Thank you Brian and the crew in Auckland for helping keep the chocolate flowing!
