Share your love of chocolate with your friends by holding a chocolate tasting. Explore and refine your taste for fine chocolate, and eat plenty while you're at it.
Buy a range of five different dark chocolate bars, try two $3.00ish supermarket brands, a more expensive brand in the supermarket such a Lindt, search out for a bar of French Valhrona at around $12.00 (normally available in a Delicatessen), and one other European brand you can find over $10.00. Open each bar, scrape off the label, and chop into small bite size pieces. Mark each bowl so you can identify it afterwards.
Use lots of water to cleanse the pallet between tastings. Taste each type, looking out for how it smells, melts in the mouth, the flavours, how smooth it is, the melting experience, the lingering after taste, the percentage of Cacao mass. Try to avoid using teeth. Allow the chocolate to melt and be present with each tasting! It is great not knowing which type of chocolate you are actually tasting, because then you can be new and really see what your preference is without knowing the price!!!
Have fun with your new chocolate awareness!!
